FAQ

How much does a custom camper van conversion cost?

Every custom build is unique, so the cost depends on your vehicle, budget, layout, materials, and the systems you choose. Whether you’re planning a simple weekend camper or a fully equipped expedition vehicle, I’d be happy to discuss your goals and provide an estimate based on your project.

What types of vehicles do you work on?

Wolf Ridge works on a wide range of adventure vehicles, including camper vans, expedition trucks, overland vehicles, trailers, and boat refits. Whether you’re starting with a new vehicle or upgrading an existing one, every project is designed around your goals and travel style. We love a challenge and the more unique the better!

Can you finish a project someone else started?

Yes. Many clients begin a camper van conversion themselves before deciding they’d like professional help. Whether you need custom cabinetry, electrical work, plumbing, insulation, fabrication, or help completing an off-grid system, Wolf Ridge Adventure Vehicles can step in and help bring your project across the finish line.

How long does a custom camper van conversion take?

Build times vary depending on the size and complexity of the project, as well as my current schedule. After we’ve discussed your ideas and the scope of the build, I’ll provide a realistic timeline so you know what to expect from start to finish. It can be as little as 2-3 months for a basic conversion and up to a year for a full Expedition Build

Do I need to buy a van before contacting you?

Not at all. If you’re still deciding on a vehicle, I’d be happy to discuss your plans and help you determine what platform will best suit your travel style and budget. Planning early often results in a better custom camper van build.

Can you work within my budget?

Every project is different, and I believe the best builds start with an honest conversation about expectations and budget. Whether you’re looking for a simple weekend camper or a fully equipped off-grid expedition vehicle, we can prioritize the features that matter most and create a plan that works for you.

Do you work with clients outside Vancouver Island?

Yes. While Wolf Ridge Adventure Vehicles is based in Genoa Bay on Vancouver Island, I work with clients from across British Columbia and beyond. If you’re considering a custom camper van or expedition vehicle, feel free to get in touch to discuss your project.

How involved can I be during the build?

As much or as little as you’d like. Some clients prefer to leave everything to me, while others enjoy being involved throughout the process. I believe good communication is an important part of every custom van conversion and will keep you updated as your project progresses.

Can I supply my own components?

Yes. If you’ve already purchased items such as windows, heaters, appliances, solar equipment, batteries, or other accessories, I’m happy to discuss incorporating them into your build whenever possible.

Can you build exactly what I have in mind, or do you use standard layouts?

Every Wolf Ridge build is custom. we don’t work from fixed floor plans or pre-designed layouts. Each camper van conversion or expedition vehicle is designed around how you travel, the equipment you need, and the experiences you want to have on the road.

What makes a custom build worth it over buying a factory camper?

A custom build allows you to create a vehicle that fits your lifestyle instead of adapting your travels to someone else’s design. From off-grid electrical systems and storage solutions to sleeping arrangements and workspace, every detail is tailored to your needs, resulting in a camper that’s built specifically for the way you travel.

How do we start planning a build?

It all starts with a conversation. Tell me about your vehicle, your travel plans, and the features that are important to you. From there, we’ll discuss ideas, timelines, budget, and the best approach to creating a custom camper van or expedition vehicle that fits your goals.
